Artist / Designer
Ibuki graduated from the Functional Design Laboratory, Graduate School of Design, Tokyo University of the Arts. Worked in the design department of Hida Sangyo. Later worked as a teaching and research assistant at the Department of Design, Tokyo University of the Arts before founding Atelier Lights in 2013. Invited artist to the Geidai Art Village. Fascinated by the material possibilities of tree branches, Kaiyama creates artworks characterized by free-form furniture design and the true beauty of wood, and in 2016 his “Kinoe” series won the Wood Furniture Japan Award Matching Special Award and the Good Design Award in the same year. In 2019, he received the Cool Japan Award.
