HIDAの匠の手から生まれた
HIHI（ヒヒ）とDADA（ダダ）。
似ているところもあるけれど
似ていないところもある
兄弟のような一対の椅子です。

展覧会では、新作HIHI DADAの
お披露目と共にインスタレーションを
開催します。

三澤遥

デザイナー。武蔵野美術大学卒業後、デザインオフィスnendoを経て、2009年より日本デザインセンター原デザイン研究所に所属。2014年より三澤デザイン研究室として活動開始。ものごとの奥に潜む原理を観察し、そこから引き出した未知の可能性を視覚化する試みを実験的なアプローチによって続けている。主な仕事に、水中環境を新たな風景に再構築した「waterscape」、かつてない紙の可能性を探求した「動紙」、国立科学博物館の移動展示キット「WHO ARE WE」、第25回亀倉雄策賞受賞記念展「Just by | だけしかたった」、上野動物園の知られざる魅力をビジュアル化した「UENO PLANET」がある。

悠久の森と飛鳥時代から続く匠文化を背景に、大正9（1920）年、
地域の発展を願う有志が、「無用の長物」とされていたブナを活かし、
曲木家具づくりをはじめました。先人たちのひたむきな努力と挑戦により、
飛騨は日本を代表する家具の産地へと発展しました。

匠の心と技とは、人を想い、時を継ぎ、技を磨き、森と歩むこと。
節や杉の魅力を引き出した家具を世の中に送り出してきたように、
これからも私たちは森林資源への探究を重ね、その活用を牽引し、
木の温もりある暮らしをお届けしたいと考えます。

新たな創造を可能とし、その魅力を求めて人々が集う場所へ。
創業の地である飛騨を「木工の聖地」とすることが私たちの志です。

HIHI and DADA were born from the hands of HIDA artisans and nurtured in the forests of Hida.
They are a pair of chairs, like siblings — similar in some ways, yet distinctly different from each other.

This exhibition showcases the new HIHI DADA along with an installation.

Haruka Misawa

Designer. After graduating from the Interior Design Course of Musashino Art University and working at the design office nendo, she joined Hara Design Institute at Nippon Design Center in 2009. She founded Misawa Design Institute in 2014. Misawa Design Institute use an experimental approach, attempting to observe the principles behind things and visualize the unknown possibilities to be found there. Her major works include “waterscape,” which reconstructed the underwater environment into a new landscape; “Doshi,” which explored the possibilities of paper as never before; “WHO ARE WE,” a mobile exhibition kit for the National Museum of Nature and Science; “Just by,” The 25th Yusaku Kamekura Design Award Exhibition; and “UENO PLANET,” which visualized the hidden charm of the Ueno Zoo.

Against the backdrop of the eternal forest and the continuous culture of craftsmanship dating back to the Asuka period (c.7th century), in 1920 a group of like-minded locals eager for the development of the region began making bentwood furniture using beech, then considered to be useless wood.

Thanks to the single-minded effort and determination of our predecessors, Hida has developed into one of Japanʼs most iconic furniture producing regions. The Heart and Skill of Craftsmen means keeping people in mind, continuity over time, perfecting our art, and walking with the forest. Just as we have sent out furniture into the world that emphasizes the charm of knots and Japanese cedar, we will continue to explore forest resources, be a driving force for their utilization, and bring the warmth of wood to peopleʼ s lives.

Desiring a place where new creations are possible, a place that draws people together with its charm, our vision is to make Hida, the birthplace of the company, hallowed ground for woodworkers.
